Fall 2011 preview!! Milan

Jil Sander. After Raf Simons’ Spring 2011 collection, I didn’t think it could get any better, but it did.  The highlights: bright primary colours, cocoon shapes, low-slung back belts, geometric print hoods on ’50s-inspired ski knits, lean stirrup pants that buckled into booties, red lips and turquoise eyeliner.

They said/We said!! Hugo Boss funds investigation into its founder’s Nazi association

Galliano debacle aside, we’ve not been reminded of certain “unpleasant” associations in the fashion industry for quite some time. Well, the past has resurfaced again, as news of a new Hugo Boss investigation has made headlines.
The company recently financed a historical study of the period between 1924 and 1945, the times leading up to and during the Second World War to clear the air about Boss’s association with the Nazis. So far we already all knew that Hugo Ferdinand Boss himself was a member of the Nazi party, but after the war he claimed to have joined only to save his business, which was facing bankruptcy in the early ‘30s.

Melissa Ankle Boots:

With big names of fashion and architecture on their side, Melissa works on a dangerous combination of style and daring design, combination they’ve never took as far as this time. Working with  italian architect Gaetano Pesce, Melissa has released a very special plastic shoe. Made of interconnected plastic circles, the ankle boots can be highly customized. For it’s at the customer’s discretion that the interconnected circles can be cut off, releasing the sleeping seven different shapes in which the new melissca shoes can be tamed into.

BEDS & HEADBOARDS

A wonderfully unique 'gallery' and 'couture' for beds. Highly stylised design ethos and stylisation. Embellished with four highly decorative and stylised columns finished in black lacquer finish with contrasting white details. A gallery and conversational piece with the most wonderful classical and colonial references.
